Inspired by this, I created a wall of similar information, regarding our killers activities.
I chose to create a wall, rather than a book, as we want the killer's home to be the audience's window into the killer's mind.
- The wall in made up of newspaper clippings and photographs, pinned down and taped together.
- I also smeared fake blood on the edges of some of the clippings. This has the effect of showing that the killer took these photographs at the time of the murders.
- I took the photographs in torchlight as it makes the wall appear bigger, and more full of information that it would be in high key lighting.
- The images I included appear to be candid shots of possible victims.
- This reflects on the fact that the killer stalks the people that they are planning to kill.
- Other photos are of the victims' homes.
- This also reflects on the fact that the killer stalks their future victims.
- One of the pictures is taken from outside the window of their victim's home.
- This shows how close they get to the victims, and how there is no safe place for the people people stalked.
- As well as the pictures of their victims whilst they are still alive, there are pictures of the victims after they've been killed.
- There are the images with the most blood smeared on them, as they were taken at the time of the murders.
- They are bloody and show signs of throats being cut, which is how the killer drains their victim's blood.
- They also contrast greatly with the pictures of the victims whilst they are alive.
Other details include:
- A scrap of bloodstained fabric that the killer took from their victim's clothes.
- Words written in blood.
- Pen scribbled over body parts (e.g. eyes) to convey the killers distaste for certain parts of their victim's appearance.
- Writing detailing names, addresses, ages and other information (such as 'has diabetes' or other biological defects).
I feel that this wall would be helpful regarding the mise en scene of our opening sequence, as it clearly reflects on the mind of our killer.
